Ahhhh the famous Disney Turkey Leg..
This is me, devouring a turkey leg in front of the Disneyland castle. I had to try this as there is so much buzz; I even noticed signage at the airport with instructions to not smuggle a turkey leg on the airplane. LOL!
It is a beast: around 1000 calories, 50 grams of fat, 150grams of protein, and over 5000mg of sodium according to several disney sources.
Is the turkey leg healthy?
It is debated online if it is a “healthy option” or an “unhealthy option.” I’d say it has nutrition pros and cons depending upon how you look at it.
The average person walks 7 miles at Magic Kindgom, so if you are needing a protein rich snack, this is it! Yes, it is a very large portion, and it has quite a bit of sodium; but if you are in the heat and walking a lot, some salt is not a bad idea.
The other thing to consider is you could split this with someone. Yes, it is a large portion and includes multiple servings of protein, fat, sodium…but it can serve a purpose of being some tasty fuel and getting some necessary protein in during an active day. Plus, you don’t have to eat the whole thing.
The turkey leg made its Walt Disney World debut in the 1980s, and now it is found at multiple locations and at multiple parks.

Recommendations: if you are going to partake in a turkey leg:
Live a little and enjoy some unique treats at the Disney Parks!
(Unless you have Congestive Heart Failure or a prescribed sodium restriction).
